New Singles: Amelia Lily & Samantha Jade

Shut Up (And Give me Whatever You Got)  &  What You've Done to Me

Amelila Lily & Samantha Jade
Double post tonight for two brand new singles out now. Two ladies. Miss Amelila Lily from the last edition of the X Factor UK and Queen Samantha Jade directly from X Factor Australia. Get ready to know what they've got.

Amelia Lily - Shut Up

Second single for X Factor UK finalist Amelila Lily, she is coming back after the #2 hit You Bring me Joy of last September. Once again she is teaming up with Xenomania production and this second single seems to even more energy than her debut.

The song starts directly with a powerful intro that anticipates the chorus (typical of Xenomania to mix up the structure). A bit of electronic sounds through all the song, slow verses with a "u u u u uhhh" that links to the stronger chorus. Amelia has more chance to show her "screaming" side compared to You Bring Me Joy as this song gets closer to her own style (at least for how we know her from the talent show).

To me, Amelia was the last person coming from X Factor I was expecting Xenomania to work with. They are know for having huge underrated pop songs in their history and I was sure that if anybody was going to give Amelia a chance would have either turn her into a generic poppy sound or eventually a rockier sound with a minor label. I am not sure if that's was she planned to to for her debut and I'm even less sure how come the producers offered her these songs. The debut single did surprisingly good and it's still played in some clubs in the UK, this second single is the real test: if it goes well, we are going to have another nice pop album, if it doesn't, at least I hope she won't complain about the sound they've chosen for her. I wish her good luck since I am a fan of this style, wasn't a fan of hers on the competition but who cares, right?

Samantha Jade - What You've Done to Me

Another come back to the scene, but a totally different story for the brand new winner of X Factor Australia, Samantha Jade.

Her story is quite an old one: she had a record deal some years ago in America, had a single out, an album in the making and then everything fell apart leaving her dreams broken. She didn't give up and this year she went to impress the judges in Australia and making her way through all the competition until she finally won the X Factor.

Her debut single What You've Done to Me that we are giving you now, went straight to the top of the charts and it is already certified gold. Pretty amazing, uh? I must say, I had no idea about who she was, I've hear about her but I hadn't checked her out before she won, but she is pretty damn good. After watching few performances of hers on the show it was clear to everybody that she has a very sharp pop diva flavour, from Australia, yes guys, a promising little Kylie in the making. Sweet personality, good vocals, great stage presence, Samantha Jade needs good songs now to make people sure that she is not going away again.

The single is not spectacular, to be fair, but it is a contemporary uptempo pop song with simple lyrics and a catchy chorus and it is so nice to avoid those useless X Factor ballads for once! She could be better than this single, so while we wait for a proper debut album, we can listen to her debut single and a cover album with her performances on the X Factor is going to be released later in December.

Everybody: enjoy Samantha Jade eating the stage. Amazing performer.
